How to do a proper macro shot with a40?

I'm a total newbie at this. Any experts to enlighten me?:(
 

How do you define "proper"?? Use the macro feature in A40 and just shoot?? ;)
 

I tried that but I just couldn't get the result I saw on some of the member's work.
 

If you want *seriously* big pictures (as in filling the frame with the whole insect) you probably need a close-up filter. If you want to use a close-up filter then you'll need to buy a lens adapter for your A40. If I'm not wrong, there's 37mm and a 52mm lens adapter for A40.

what's the difference between the 2 adaptors mentioned? Got a A40 intend to get an adaptor soon...
