I guess minimalism is what the word says it is. As little as possible yet retain the message. How you do that cannot be thought in a book as it varies from subject to subject. If you look at some of the examples then you can see that the goal is achieved in very different ways. In some colour is removed in others clutter and others work with long exposure to even out the background. Minimalism is what works for you.
A way to get there is to ask yourself if there is something in the frame that is not necessary. Look at each item and ask "need or no need?" once you find that nothing can be removed anymore you achieved a minimalistic photo
