how to create Smoke Photography?

i would like to know how to create smoke photography

any kind soul can teach me? :bsmilie:

you can teach yourself.. if you look.. same for a lot of things.. because...

all have different ways of explaining, but basically the same thing
 

basically to get a good shot of smoke, u need to use 1 or 2 strobes, a macro lens and black background. after that some pp to play around with the colors and contrast. lighting is very impt. use incense. the smoke is more consistent and the studio will smell nice. :)
 

To narrow it, as summaries from the urls generously shared by night86mare;

clean lines and shapes - a) Lot of light at a small aperture (and thereby a deeper depth of
field)
b) fast shutter time (1/250 or faster)
c) low ISO
d) light used to expose the image comes from one studio flash unit
fitted with a snoot and placed at the side or behind the smoke

Setup should look like;

Only macro lens can get this kinda shots? or it just looks better?
might want to try this out one day;)
