1. Assure that the distances perpendicular to you from the subjects is the same. This way, you get them both in decent focus even if you're shooting at f1.2. I've done it for groupshots before.
2. Either focus or recompose/select the preferred autofocus point (don't use non sensitive points for big apertures). Don't worry about focus and recomposing especially if you are standing not to close to the subjects, it's really not that bad.
