Hello,

Me new to digital camera, just bought 1 today.

My cam is a 3.2mp with a max resolution of 2048 x 1536.

With the provided 64mb sd card, how many pics can i take at this 'best' setting?

I'll probably develop normal size only, should i take photos at a lower res?

thanks for you help

errr....i think it may depends on what's your cam compression rate but i think for a 3.2mp cam it's about 13 pics for 16mb so for a 64mb is about 52-55....this is based on a olympus mju 300....

is there much diff if i take photos in 2048x1536 and 1600x1200??

yea, at 1600x1200 there is lesser resolution than at 2048x1536, so detail will be lesser on 1600x1200 version.

Cheers!

as size of file depends on the resolution of the shot, you might want to consider what you want the pics for, so that you can then better select the type of resolution you want to use.

in a simply framework, i would break it down to 3 uses
1 sharing over internet / e-mail (40-50kb)
2 keeping on computer
3 printing (3R / 4R... don't recommend much bigger with a 3.2mp) (3-4mb)

the resolution requirements increases from 1-3, thus fewer files per mb in your memory card. of course, some would recommend that you take full to being with, as you can also edit them smaller to share over e-mail (cannot do the other way. from small make big without loosing resolution), in which case, you would only be able to capture about 15-25 shots
