Hi all,

Just wondering, is it ok to leave a lens outside a dry box or in your camera bag w/o any silica gel for a week or two, without it developing fungus? What is the time period before signs of fungus growth starts to appear? This is assuming the lens is left out in normal room temperature and in our normally humid climate (humidity ard 90%?) and with both end caps on (not that it helps much I guess). Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance. :D

About 3 months.

Note that camera shops leave their stuff in the shop windows for very long without getting fungus. Maybe the airing helps.

Air conditioners help to remove a certain amount of humidity in the air. The more you know! :D

Some older lens in the shop did dsiplay the initial sign of fungus.

I had 2 personal experience where i spotted fungus on 2nd hand shop lens.

The shop did offer to clean it FOC and give me some discount over the listed price.
