how do you cool down your laptop?

i use those usd mini fans to cool the laptop down,

i got mine from the plaza singapura at a computer shop next to times book shop ( i think) either 3 or 4th floor price at 9.00,


then yesterday i saw a chio usb fan at 19.90 at taka,

my laptop sometimes get very hot after prolonged usage, and the only method i use to cool it down is to elevate the laptop and use a fan to circulate the air underneath the laptop...anyone of you guys here have other more effective methods to cool the laptop?

U know those balls that shops sell to put it underneath ya laptop?

I got one of those.

P/S: A laptop's name may be such, but prolonged use on it on top of your lap may increase the risk of harming the millions of ur future generation. ;p

Not yet, but I will buy one if I passby and see one....the theory is simpler...it works like those passive CPU heatsink where the heat is being conducted by the larger fins....you need to observe how your notebook intake and exhaus the heat...my IBM X30 has no problem because the air intake is from the right and exhaus from the left and bottom.....except that the heat at bottom is trapped...so the stick will helps.....

I won't consider those with fan one because it will takes up 1 USB port and draw more power incase I run on battery mode :sweat:

hmm, but its hard to type liddat, mine always make it tilt 60 degree upwards... saw EG one only tilt 8 degree nia... Mine too HARD to lower... :bsmilie::devil::bsmilie:

You have to remove the stick for the balls to work i think.

My macbook is on my table and it feels hot but heck care, i still have 3 notebooks to use if it burns. ;p

No worries. Unless your room is really very very hot itself, the increased temp usually wont kill your notebook.

My notebook runs 24 X 7, no kidding. The table where my notebook sits on is hot but my notebook runs fine for the past 2 years. (My notebook runs as a ftp and http server)

don't be too cocky with this setup. the heat build up will shorten your HDD lifespan incredibly. Mine died near its 3rd b'day. It's always good to keep things cool.. It'll extend the eqpt lifespan a lot more.

Not to forget the build in fans etc will work less harder if the devices are cool :thumbsup:

some ppl got cold hands, so maybe you can ask them to have you grab hold your pair of balls and probably kool them down ... becareful not to overheat yr laptop though. :sweatsm:
