it should be a very nice camera indeed... ?

8.3 mp
nice len 28-200mm (sufficient for most of the occassion)
anit shake feature...
not very expensive.

is it because of the Brand or other cameras better with this price range?
any feedback

Basically because the model before it the A2 is considered better than the A200.

You can look up the thread on the A200 in the Minolta subforum.

I am using a Canon Pro 1. Recently, my bro-in-law bought the A200, after my explanation.... All 8mp prosumers give pretty high noise. You probably don't want to shoot higher than ISO100. However, the image stabiliser, you can shoot at lower speed while maintaining the ISO at 100 and below. What's the use of higher pixels and sharper lens when your hand shakes,,,,,, The future for prosumer 8mp is image stabilizer..... My comment about the A200 after toying for a day using my bro-in-law's:

- Flash range too short. At F2.8, I could shoot up to 5 meters (ISO100) with Pro 1 but the A200 managed to do about 3 meters. This is very important unless you want to carry an extra flash. BULKY. Guess what, my wife's Canon A400 gets better flash range than Minolta A200. I hate to use 'Konica'...

- Focusing speed in day light is very good (better than Pro 1) but very poor in dim condition (slower than Pro 1).

- Image is very neutral which I like. Pro-1 is too contrasty.

- Cheappppp at SG$1200 from Alan Photo. That's why I'm selling nmy Pro-1 to get the A200.

I hope above helps in your decision making.
