Just found out that someone has been hotlinking my image and I think some others here as well at their forum without any credit or consents from the photographer.

Just FYI, among the images, I has spotted images from
  • megaweb
  • Richard Ng
  • Christopher How

in their some called "Pets Gallery"

I'm sure there's more in the other gallery.

Just FYI.

Maybe you should report to the moderator of the forum involved for the website stated?

It's better to watermark your pictures to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Did, and it was removed.

Watermarking does not help... the above person's photo are recognizable there because of their watermark.

Watermark or not... the problem here is the respect of Copyright and the rights of the photographer.

Do also read this article on Fred Miranda's:

Well, I suppose given the size of this internet thingy, there are probably billons of copyright infringements in the world. People lifting research materials and using it on their own homepage...etc

It's the free flow of information that is both the bane and boon to us all.

You can't stop them downloading any of your images, but you can stop them from hotlinking (if you have full access to your webserver - simple apache rules).

For those interested, this is possible (explicitly banned Adobe WebCapture as well):

Code:
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^[url]http://your_website[/url]" local_ref=1
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^[url]http://another_site_linkable[/url]" local_ref=1
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^$" local_ref=1
SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent WebCapture leecher
<FilesMatch "\.(gif|jpe?g|png|JPG)$">
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from env=local_ref
deny from env=leecher
</FilesMatch>
