Hey Guys, we are all to familiar with the "Holy Trinity" concept from the competition.

Am wondering if there is an equivalent for K mount ?

Thank you.

No such concept, cause Pentax is ONE and Pentax is MANY :D :D

I know ppl like to give terms like "XX King", "walk about king", "Trinty" and such, but to me its all "action bola" only :D
There are good lenses in all brands and Pentax has had many very good ones over the 40+ years its been making cameras.
Then there are also the good 3rd party ones (ie. Voigtlander; Cosina; etc)

IMO, just look out for the good lenses that fit the budget and the demands/preference, rather than trying to chase such 'fluffy' names people dream up to 'up' their status.
My few cents

Ok looks like I shld stick to the 16-50 & 50-135 that I have in mind. Was looking at the K30/K-01 but now jus holding back on for the K-5 successor.

Not in serious hurry, but I have a major itch I need to scratch !

does Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 has PK mount version, if pentax co-op with Tokina with that lens instead of 12-24 f4,

then Pentax will have a f2.8 Trinity

11-16 f2.8
16-50 f2.8
50-135 f2.8

then add the 200 f2.8

These 2 lenses are already good enough for 90-95% of photographs the general enthusiast does.

add the 12-24 or the 60-250 then you'll have your unique trinity;)

Thanks to all for weighing in ! Much appreciated. Although, I did fail to mention that a macro lens is a MUST (60% of my shoots will be macro)
But I have my heart on the smc PENTAX D FA MACRO 100mm F2.8 WR, almost bought it a week ago, even b4 purchasing the body ;)

Eagerly awaiting Photokina with special interest in the possible K-5 replacement ! *fingers crossed*

I beileve every pentax lens is special so we dont need the holy trinity branding.
the closest we have is the FA princess and DA princess. you will have to fall in love with some of the lens then form your own trintiy.

here is what i use.

Studio/Portaiture , DA40, FA43, DA*50135

General purpose DA1224, DA*1650, DA*50135

Travelling DA40, DA*1650 (or 1855WR), F3570

sorry I shoot a very small variety of things but have many lenses. I actually use a 10mm zoom lens at 10mm about 90% of the time so if you want a choice of three it's tough! :bsmilie:

It's about prime lenses with large apertures. Also without issues focus shift issues. Namely the 35mm f1.4 L, 85mm f1.2 L , 135mm f 2L, and maybe the discontinued 180 f1.8 L.
