Took this shot during a rainy morning over Ho Chi Minh. The picture is cropped.

When I looked out the windows of my hotel room, I notice a blue patch in the dark clouds. I quickly whip out my LX3 and took this shot.

If there is a ray coming thro would have been even better, but that depends on luck.

it does nothing for me though. Plus, the photo is way too oversharpened

I believe that's the preset sharpness for LX3 although Dmajor can adjust it.

With a bit of leveling in PS, it might look even more dramatic. :)

Obviously this is a grab shot situation, as the TS is not being there to shoot any photo assignment.

I presume the actual scene / atmosphere which he saw could have been more dramatic that's why he's been aspire to take this shot.

Perhaps a wide angle shot could reflects more of that opening in the sky feeling.

Agreed that the building is over sharpen. Clouds doesn't have texture, only volume. Thick smoke...yes. Like that from volcano or explosion, bcoz contains debris and ashes.

Thanks for the kind remarks. I did sharpen the photo, and it does look over done. :)

As for dramatic, perhaps its cos I sua ku never see before ... hahaha

Anyway thanks for all your feedbacks ... the path of learning photography have been fun and rewarding since I embarked on it this march with the LX3 and june with a 500D.

It definitely will not be a lonely one with all you guys here.

Should have somemore interesting pic rather than just this from Vietnam.
