History archive of land buildings are on?

Is there a place where you can check up the history of what standing on a particular piece of land before the present building resides on it?

Like...example...before Cineleisure, it was orchard bowl, and what was it before orchard bowl before it was built, on that piece of particular land.

Anyone got lobangs? haha i would like to know bout the history of certain areas in Singapore...

National Archive Board (or Heritage board ??? can't remember which one).

i know both boards exists....but do they actually keep record of what is built on a particular piece of land over long periods of time?

if it is prominent building/s or site over a period of time, there is a book at NLB. cannot remember the name. something like Ray Xxxxx. ask the librarian. or consult ST photo archive.
