Curious to know what the histogram display for digital camera is for.
Is there any application I can do with the histogram display?

I dun know abt the others... I use it to check the exposure of my shot...

i activate it to show when i take a pic, but mostly i would just view it to see if there is any skew, like if there is more overexpose or underexpose. but do not that, if your pic is generally more white or more dark, your histogram is not a good indication of exposure.

if the "mountain" is at the left side of the picture it has some underexposed parts or is totally underpexposed, if it's near the right its overexposed.

If its evenly spread out in the middle the exposure is just right.

the discription is exactly the same as wat i have here in my manual...

i always on it.. check exposure loh... but sometime cannot get the "mountain" to stay in the middle...

it acts as a guide for me...

so what do you do when the mountain is on the left or on the right?

Here's a big fallacy.. the 'mountain' in the middle doesn't mean it's a properly exposed shot.. it just really depends on what you are taking...

The mountain means most of the pixels are at that grey point. In the middle probably means that the shot is balance but not always correctly exposed. But most likely that will keep you most details for highlight and shadows for you to do adjustment later on.
