i think critique corner only one photo per week
but anyways, i am going to say that even with IR, which is surreal in the first place, overdetailed hdr (strength too high) is not going to work. too much detail can be a killer. you may have leading lines, you may have good composition, but the eye is going to be tripped up, tied up and beaten up in one corner because of your gritty, rough ground, etc.
i have done hdr + ir before, i prefer to stand within bounds of the usual rules - i.e. limited strength, and the light should work the way it does when you see the scene, rather than lighting up the shadows and suppressing the highlights so that everything looks 2d. there is no point in rendering a landscape taken from a wide angle perspective into a flat painting, you lose the depth.
