Hello princely,

Welcome to Clubsnap. Before we could help you with the recommendations, could you let us know which genres of photography are you interested in (see the photo gallery section for the list of genres), and how much is your budget?

Since you are new here and you might not know what you want/need.
Save some $$, get a D60 kit from B&S to learn the basic first. :)
(Get a friend who know how to check/test DSLR and Lens to go with you.)

Have a good day~

1. Confirm ur budget
2. Read up various Nikon camera models' prices & specs (compare w/ ur budget to narrow down)
3. Go down to shops & try the feel of the camera models u hv narrow down
4. Can also rent from places like http://www.camerarental.biz/nikon.php
to try to ur heart content w/ a small fee
5. Decide buy 1st hand or 2nd hand
6. Empty wallet & buy the camera model u chosen
& welcome to the photography world of BBB

Hi and welcome to CS.

I think which Nikon DSLR model depends on 2 major factors:-
(1) Budget; and
(2) Full frame or cropped frame.

Other factors include what you are interested in shooting e.g. sports, landscape, potraits, etc.

Cheers.
