You can't possibly go wrong with either cam, each have their strengths and weaknesses.. it all depends on whether you are willing to fork out more $$ for the swivel lcd (S2) or use proprietary memory cards (H1).

Or you want to wait and look at the upcoming S3 and H5/H2 models instead?

Maybe wait for the IT show coming in about 2 weeks time?

can see you're looking for a megazoom... if you wait for the IT show you have 3 selections...

Sony : H2 & H5
Panasonic : FZ7
Canon : S3 1S

and if you decide not to wait...

Sony : H1
Panasonic : FZ5 & FZ30
Canon : S2 IS

my 2cents on the matter

I guess these new models will only come out around May and won't be available in the IT Show.. Well, at least for the H2/H5.

I would take the Canon as I find that their software is pretty user friendly. Their Powershot series is also value for $$.

If you are buy new camera Canon S3 IS is the choice...

Thanks for all the comments. Will wait till the IT show. ;)

how about....

Sony R1 ?

whats the price of R1 anyway? anyone knows?

ah...thanks man.
maybe when drop a bit more, become very good value.
this is really good cam, if you don't intend to change lens. only problem is that i think accessories such as flash and filter may cost more? or maybe R1 is compatible with 3rd party accessories, if so then good buy.

I agree with Snoweagle too. Very nice image quality but the price is

Yes...Sony cams are touted to have very nice image quality but it's overpriced for that range.
