Welcome to ClubSNAP! ;)

If u want Oly DC and <= $1k then u can get:

C-2100UZ (2.1MP, 10x IS zoom, $950)
C-700UZ (2.1MP, 10x zoom, $900)
C-3020Z (3.3MP, 3x zoom, $850)
C-2040Z (2.1MP, F1.8 'fast' lens, 3x zoom, $700)

If u want something that's good in day + nite shots and don;t my the 2.1MP + 3x zoom, then C-2040 is a better choice.

The C-3040z has 3.3MP and a fast F1.8 3x zoom lens, but it's beyond ur budget.

Note: These Dcs don't has NR built-in so long exposure nite shots can be noisy, may need to post-process using a NR program.

mystic,

FYI, the C-3040z is going for $1299 with free original 128MB SM + photography lessons from Oly. Think the goodies are worth ard $500.

The Cannon Powershot G2 is a feature packed DC. Great reviews. + Free 32MB CF. Going for around $1200-$1300.

these are slighty above your budget. but if you're getting around June, prices might drop a little then.

how come no one talks about the 4040? so weird... outclassed by the G2?

So which means C-2040 is a better buy. Wat is the difference between C-2100UZ??? Jus wanna know more abt cameras.

I think i may get the C-3040. Will check out the price again on May.

For camera reviews, U might wanna take a look a www.dpreview.com there got VERY GOOD reviews of alot of cameras, and U can even go to the specific forum to ask more abt the camera itself.
I frequent between dpreview and this forum, can learn alot of things from just these 2 places alone ^_^

Then u better go for the C-4040z lah......got NR function...price a couple hundreds more only.

Well, since you're buying in June or earlier, why not wait for PMA to come and go first? There definately will be newer cameras announced then, so why not see what there is on display first?

Silly question...NR is wat?
Nightshot?

I think it stands for noise reduction ;)
