Have finally decided to get down to buying a digital camera after so many years.

Just bought myself a Canon PowerShot A540. Am still a bit lost with it, so will appreciate if no one yells at me if I ask dumb questions. :sweat:

Friend, new camera, just leave everything at default first. Try out and take some test photos first. Look at them on your PC and figure out what's the problem, if any.
Using the manual as a guide to the controls, make the necessary adjustments and go for another test session. You remember better that way instead of trying to treat the manual like a textbook, which it isn't.
