hi fellow canon user. welcome to clubsnap :)

perhaps you can go to various place of interests to shoot else you can actually volunteer to photograph your school events.

cheers! ;)

Try everything - landscapes, abstract, macro, world of nature, portraits etc.

Eventually you'll end up with something that you like.

Kit lens is good enough. My suggestion is to just go on a walk about trip with another photographer buddy and shoot to your heart's content.

After awhile you'll find yourself shooting one area more than others like landscapes or macro.

From there on, you can start investing in specialised lenses like 100mm macro, 17-40mm etc.

Happy shooting ;)

I'm new to photography, just got my canon 400d 5days ago. :)
Hope to get to know more people here and improve my skills.

Not really sure what I'm into photographing heh, any interesting subjects for a newbie to try out? ^^

Everything my friend...... EVERYHING !!

Digital Cameras means no cost in print..... just snap, snap and snap some more till you find out what you like...... Macro, Landscape, Portraits, Natural.... etc. Its like never ending things to try..... ;)

Just go and shoot !!

Goodluck !! :vhappy:

Buggy : hey, thanks. =) There's already the media club that's doing the photography for the school. Heh you just give me a bright idea, I might want to try and take photographs for sports day.

g-khoo : heh thanks. Shall find time to grab one of my friends along someday ^^

diver-hloc : Haha alright. :) Thanks~

Hey, welcome to ClubSnap =)

You've got a great DSLR to start with, keep snapping away at everything =)

Just take a weekend off and walk around your house, your school, or go to a garden / park / zoo and snap pics of things you find interesting.

After a few months, you'll probably start to see a trend in your shooting subjects. That's when you probably should decide if a new lens would help you, and go for it =)

But always remember-- it's the photographer, not the camera, that makes great photographs!!

Have a great stay here at CS.

Cheers~

Hi,

Welcome to this hobby.

Perhaps you can try shooting still life and abstract, since most of the things in your house can be your subject. :)

hi canon user from a nikon user. just shoot and take photos. it's digital so you can learn as you go.

first advise, shoot to please yourself. nevermind the critics.

hi! u got some nice pics in your shoots  keep shooting and enjoying this great hobby!

just a note... take note of the white balance when it comes to shooting humans as subjects. ;)

Yes,
"Take note of the white balance when it comes to shooting humans as subjects" by geraldkhoo

It may be referring to the pics you took of my sister.

That was my sister LI who typed and quoted. Now its kennie only

welcome to photography and CS. ^^

canon user! use the kitlens to its fullest haha!

Headshotzx : Thanks. :D I'd be sure to do that~

NoMoney : Thanks~ I shall hunt for interesting things ^^

jfoo : I'll keep that in mind, thanks :)

geraldkhoo: Thanks~ Yeap, I'm still not satisfied with my human portraits and stuff. ^^;

hengpy: Thankyou~ :)

subwirl: Haha yeap, pretty coincidental, you can catch me on msn if you want to plan for a photoshoot~

knpan: Haha yeap, I think so too.

noob117: haha I will, I will!~ Thanks. =)

why not try shooting ordinary everyday subjects in unusual perpectives / composition / lighting? u r only limited by your imagination and creativity!

hey, welcome canonian.
for a start, i always try shooting still objects or at least not erratically moving objects :)
So for me, portrait or landscape first, and you can get nice images with kit lens also.

Bringing your DSLR everywhere you go (whenever you get that chance) is always a good idea. Street and candids is the most pleasurable form of photography (to me personally). Just enjoy the thrill of taking what you see. The results can be quite surprising.

Here are the images Li asked me to put for your reference. These are drawn and shaded by me, the only 1s so far, just started. hope u can draw or shade better as i dont wanna waste much time on my art which is Time Consuming, Sherlyn.
