Help with vignetting

I'm new to the SLR world and I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting vignetting on pictures taken on my new D40 with Canon 18-200 lens. From what I can tell it only happens while shooting in the P mode. Is it the lens or camera or a messed up combination of shutter speed, ISO, etc?

Focal Length: 90mm
Flash: Off
Metering: Pattern
ISO: 500

I suspect the shutter curtain. But no idea why it only appears in P mode. Better send for NSC.

You still have many modes, other than P right? ;p

Well it can't be sensor misalignment either, or else it would appear in all modes.

First time seeing such things, should send to NSC for a check up.

Btw, vignetting is light fall off, usually at corners. It forms a circular dark ring at the edge of the frame.

Seems more like shutter problem to me.
