I plan to buy a PNS for my friend.
help to find one PNS camera from

canon/ Panasonic/Nikon/Fuji

my expectations are:
1. Picture quality
2. Average zoom(3x-5x)
3. Moderate video qualities. min 640*480/30f.
4. IS/VR enabled.

not sure bout ur budget n stuff, but my dad uses this canon, and the picture quality is really great, i highly recommend it..

Generally P+S picture quality is poor, and with 72 dpi and low tolerance for noise I would avoid such a camera.
But if you have to get one then see what you can get with a higher than 72 dpi, can shoot raw or tif, and good tolerance for noise at least up to ISO 400.

Even the lowest price DSLR will perform better than a p+s

Nowadays, many PnS cams are all at 72 dpi. Unlike in the past, it was higher resolution.
I think it's because they want people to buy DSLR instead of PnS cameras.

If you get an cheap entry-level DSLR (e.g. Oly E-420) which costs around $800-$900 (with kit lens: 28-84mm on E-420), it equates to 5x optical zoom on a PnS.

the dpi of the camera has nothing to do with the image quality,
its just a setting n not absolute resolution.

10mp is still 10 mp regardless of the dpi.
