Help! Smartmedia cards got format error

Hi, I have two smartmedia cards (one olympus and generic brand). After using them on my new USB2.0 card reader, they are unable to be recognized by my digital camera (Olympus C730UZ). Camera gives only an option to format the card but selecting it results in error.

Tried to search for information on the internet and found this:

I think I need to find the smprep.exe that is suitable for my card reader but I can't find the suitable one.

Found the problem here too on clubsnap:

Always use camera to format not PC.

I use PC to format to change file systems for faster writing. So there are always pros and cons. :D

Have you solved your prob? I have a similar prob b4 I believe. Currently, my only 128mb card is dead.

Anyway, try formatting your card with another digital camera of another brand. Then format it with your olympus camera. If there's nothing physically wrong with your card, it should work.
