HELP! (prob with iphone)

dear folks,

my bro bought an iphone fr e States few mths back, his friend managed to break code for him n been using it in Singapore.

However, when last nite he did an data upgarde online n after that, his iphone cant read his sim card or rather any other sim card.

Wonder if anyone here have e same prob or experiences to share? Really need to get his iphone working again cos he stored alot of work n important stuffs inside.

There was a lot of talk about how once you crack your iphone the last thing you should do is UPDATE as it turns your iphone into a use brick! You have to google for help...heard this is something you don't want happen to you. Apple did something with the update and incorporate some code that when enter a hacked iPhone will break the hack and disable the phone. This was sometime back that they did this. Not sure if anyone found a way to reverse it....have not follow the news for a while now...I know alot got burn when they try to update the firmware via iTunes.

was told e version he updated belongs to 3G iphone (his is not) so it upset e entire set. important thing is he is trying to get help cos he stored alot of work docs n passwords inside. now totally blur!

BTW, thats 2.0 firmware and its not for 3G phone exclusively. It is for all iPhones.

Only thing he can do is to wait for a new version of jailbreak that works.... in order to use a non AT&T sim card, you have to jailbreak the phone. The unfortunate part of this is that the jailbreak usually comes shortly after a new firmware update is available. Unless you are a hacker who knows how to jailbreak the firmware, otherwise, you have to just wait for someone to release a new version of jailbreak.

Its just sad that many people like to fix things that are not broken... :dunno:
