Dear All,

I had a M.Zuiko 14-150mm lens & i using a 3rd party flower hood.
When i attached the hood, the corner or the screen got cover by the hood abit.
When i attached my B+W filter, it becomes very obvious & covered quite alot.

Is it normal for my case or should i buy the original olympus lens hood.

It's not normal. It basically means your hood is the worng kind for your lens. Your lens is going wider than the hood.
You should just get the original hood.

How come attaching the filter makes it worse? The filter is screwed on to the lens, not the hood, am I right?

But anyway, that aside, if the hood shows up in the photo, means it's not the appropriate one for that lens :)

Thanks for all the reply.
I think it might be the thickness of filter to make it worse.
I got this problem only at 14mm. If i zoom in to 25mm or bigger, problem solve.
Guess i had to buy the original hood. website priced at $45... sad :~

You can also look for a wider (shorter) third party hood.
I would suggest mounting on the lens and checking before buying.

The filter might by itself be causing vignetting. Do you see vignetting when you use the lens with filter without the hood?

Don't think is vignetting.
I buy the hood thru online, therefore i cant check.
Using B+W 58mm Kaesemann MRC Circular Polarizer Filter

If your filter is the regular screw-on type, and your hood is the bayonet-mount type which clamps onto the external surface of the lens, then they are sort of independent of each other.
If the hood (alone) doesn't cause vignetting, and the filter (alone) doesn't cause vignetting, there should be no vignetting when you use both together.
A bit confused by your description.

Would u be able to upload some photos (with the relevant info like focal length n aperture) for comparison?
A picture really speaks a thousand words.

My hood is flower screw in. Cant be fix the other way so i dont think its bayonet type.

Sorry. Didn't realise your filter was a screw in.
So yes, the hood is too narrow for the widest range of your lens.
This happens when the 3rd party companies flog a hood based on just filter size and not the actual focal lengths. The hood has to be constructed taking into account both these factors.

The best is to just bite the bullet and buy an original hood.

Hi Bro,
Thanks alot.
will headed down to the service centre to ty and buy when i free. :)

I think I saw some people with hoods made of styrofoam cups painted black.
