My friend want to get a DC. Can fellow Clubsnaper help, because I'm not very familiar with Olympus DC.

His choice of DC:

1. Olympus C-730UZ

2. Olympus C-5050Z

What is the current price for both the DC? Which is better?

Thanks. :)

5050 is good. My personal opinion. Price is higher, ard 1.2k if I'm not wrong. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If compare btw Fuji 602 and Olympus C-5050z?

I think price wise Fuji 602 should be cheaper than Olympus C-5050z

But features I'm not too sure.:dunno:

730z 3mp 10x zoom $~900
5050 5mp, normal zoom, tilt lcd, uses cf sm xd, f1.8-f2.8 $~1k2, FL hotshoe

602z 3-6mp, 6x zoom, $not sure, ISO hotshoe

body size: 602z >> 730 ~= 5050
perf like AF think 602z 5050z comparable but 730 is std-digicam

If price is not an issue, I would highly recommend you the Olympus C-5050Z, else then the Olympus C730UltraZoom...

Got my C730UZ around 3 weeks ago for $820 w gst. Hope it helps :p

Which is better?
IMHO, the primary relative strengths of each camera are as follows: the C-730UZ features a very long focal length zoom range but "only" 3mp of image resolution, whereas the C-5050Z is an all-round good performer with 5mp but much shorter focal lengths. I would therefore suggest that you ask your friend to base his decision on his response to this question: which is more important to the type of photography he does, long focal length or higher image resolution? Yes, it is true that the C-5050Z is the newer model and therefore has more bells and whistles (in particular the ability to use CF cards and a flash hot shoe), but in the end I would not say that one model is necessarily better than the other under all circumstances; the two were designed for different purposes, so it depends on what one's own photographic aims are. Just my two pennies' worth. :)
