help: my d80 can't focus

hi,

i am in stockholm and it's morning now. the weather is -10 outside.

i just took out my d80 to try to take a shot but when i press the shutter, it gives a cracking sound and the camera can't focus. this is the first time i hear this kind of sound.

what could be the cause of reason and what should i do?

Is e switch on e front bottom right(if u look at e camera from e front) side set to 'A' instead of 'M'?

ok thank you.

it's set to A = auto.

anyway it is working now. i think it was due to the temperature. i put it in my sweater and it is working fine now.
