Help.. I keep on gettin error on my Nikon D100

Hi, as from the pictures below, wat does tat number 22 refer too? aperture? How come when I set anything below "22" The error(picture 3) appears? Tested on both indoor and outdoor?

for studio shoot, wat r the best settings?

You cannot use the aperture ring for adjustments. Lock the aperture at F22 (or min aperture). Use the dials on the body to control the aperture.

Read the manual, I am sure it's in there.

Ah! No wonder my tokina has a lock switch for f22.
Kept wondering what the function was for.
