HELP !!!! HAIR AND DUST inside camera !

My camera seemed to be a magnet for dust and hair :what:

Tried blowing away the dust in the sensor with a hand blower while holding the cam upside
up.
End up blowing in a short strand of hair in my viewfinder !! omg....

Tried blowing it harder but without sucess....

Any kind souls got any solutions beside sending it to the service center ???

The sensor are charged when on, thus it"ll attacts all the dust, hair etc. So a stronger jet stream of air is required.

Go get a bottle of compressed air-duster. That will help. However do jet with care cos if you tilt the can too much, the chemicals in the jet-air can may spray out.

Otherwise, send it down to Service Centre for a cleaning service. Anyway when is the last time you send your camera in? So it might just worth the while to a general maintainence.

Compressed air might be too powerful for your thin sensor.

DON'T EVER USE COMPRESSED AIR!​

If you had problems before, you'll definitely have PROBLEMS after. There is a danger of the propeller leaving stains glue to the sensor permanently. The compressed air may also cool the surface to a degree that you will get condensation. Compressed air should have been banned from all photographer. Use only good quality hand blowers.

yup. condensed air is a no-no. I think some DSLR manuals SPECIFICALLY mention that DO NOT use condensed air. Reason is air cools rapidly upon expansion. May damage the sensor.

BUT I remember going for the nikon D70 one-day course and the instructor recommends compressed air.... :dunno:

Anyway, the best way is still the sensor swipes. I cleaned a sp3ro and E300 before. No problem whatsoever. The problem with blowing is you may get more dust instead....

thanks ! how do i get rid of the strand of hair in my view finder ?

is it ok to wipe the mirror and the focusing screen gently with a cotton bud.

I would start with a pair of tweezers and removed the hair and everything else that is big enough with that. The view finder and the mirror are not as crucial for your images as the sensor, but still must be handled carefully. It is difficult to say how much I would be prepared to do myself, so far after about 15 months of dSLR use I haven't had to do any cleaning, so I have no experience. I used to clean my film SLRs with a pair of tweezers and air blower (manual, not compressed). Never with cotton bud and liquids, but if it would have been needed I could have removed both the mirror and the view finder glass, so it would not have been a problem. Unfortunately that is not possible to do with my dSLR.

Take out lens, or body cover. you will see 2 black screws on top, 2 at bottom. take out the top 2, then the piece of black plastic they were holding can come off. Next you can find inside is the focusing screen and others, which is where is the dust is trapped and you can first blow off any dust or particles then clean with microfibre cloth if necessary.
