Friend's birthday coming up next week. What can I buy him for $100 or so? Was thinking of a fish eye filter or something similarly funky perhaps?

Cheers

What brand and type of camera does he shoot?

Canon EOS 400D I think. Not 100% sure on the model but Canon and EOS am dead sure (pretty certain 400D though).

Cheers

Memory cards

Shldve specified. Gifted him a 16GB CF card some time back, so that he is all set for.

what does he shoot mostly?

with $100 i would try and pick something out which he may not have thought of getting himself like an old camera or lens baby that is more fun.

lots of stuff in the buy and sell, I would enjoying getting something vintage haha.. even half frame cameras

Thought lensbabies were more expensive. Could you elaborate on the half frame camera?

Dont want to gift something useless...

Shoots anything but landscapes mostly I think.

A 4 or 8 gig CF card is a fail-safe gift that everyone would appreciate I'd reckon.

Probably extreme 3 4gig or 8gig?

It might be cheesy, but a photoframe (or digital photoframe) might also be a good gift.

Looking at digital photoframes, but the pricing is out of bounds.

The cards listed here are too expensive. I am NOT a salesperson but go to www.newegg.com and order one using vpost. 16GB 166x works out to approx SG$110.

What do you guys think of Tobacco or Fisheye lenses? What would a decent one cost?

Bag sounds interesting but wouldnt he have a bag?

Having said that - what would you recommend?

What kind of bags does he use when going out? Sling bag or backpack?

I'd go for maybe lowepro slingbag?

The Lowepro CompuDaypack might be good for him. It's a backpack that can fit a laptop and camera gear, but only if he uses a lappy.

Doesnt use a lappy. Think right now he has a lowepro sling bag, not 100% sure what exactly.

how about a lomo? ;)

How bout the cheapest Canon lens? 50mm f/1.8II if he doesn't have it. ~S$110 - 130 new.

1. Kenko extension tube for <$100
2. Hand strap,
3. Photographer's glove
4. CF cards like other had mention
5. Cable release
6. External Hard Disk.. (cos every digital photographer will run out of space soon)

For <$100 budget and do not know your friend's preference, that about all I can think off.

a natgeo/discovery/compilation of works of photographers or news agencies..

can find quite a lot of these in kinokuniya..

will serve as inspirations for ur fren! :)
