I signed up as a member only today. I "graduated" to a DSLR last year after years of using compacts on auto mode. But I'm still using my camera on auto mode. Maybe I'll pick up a thing or two here about aperture and shutter priority and use my camera the way it's supposed to be used! :embrass:

nothing wrong with auto mode..
but just know what u are doing..

i still shoot at auto mode after years of shooting... i guess manual isnt the thing for me...

There is nothing wrong with Auto mode...
Just shot each mode and see the result.
shot as many as you want... digital is cheap compare to film lor....

its ok with auto mode.
when u free, u can take note the setting of auto mode, then u try it to manual, modify it, then see the different, u can learn from that.

2. Shutter Speed
3. Apperture

I think learning these 3 would be a good start..

but do consider moving on to other mode,
when u feel that the DSLR is not smart enough to net u the pics u want

Well, 400D on Auto mode works good... until you start to see marvellous compositions, exposures and lightings by the experienced photogs in this forum. Then generally we will slowly switch to some other more interesting modes..
