Hello all,

Am a newbie. Dont know what techniques are available to combine various pics from different exposure settings into a singular more expressive photo.

Here is my first attempt :

Here are the 3 original photos taken with different exposure settings

chijmesori.jpg

then they are combined to produce

chijmes0.jpg

and then photo-edited to produce surreal photo

chijmes1.jpg

hie, can teach me how u do that -surreal photo??

Dont have CS2, so cant try out the HDR functions.

this is done strictly with layers only...

The surreal part is simply an "Equalized" photo of the combine pic.

Would software like PhotoMatix do the trick?

comments welcome

I like the nice abstract quality of your work. This is the most interesting pic of that building and patch of lawn that I have seen in a while

Yes and I think HDR Shop is still free (check it out yourself, haven't seen that page in a while) http://www.ict.usc.edu/graphics/HDRShop/

[update: 1.0 is free for research purposes]

Kudos!! thanks. version 1 seems to be free. but not version 2.

But thanks for the link!! if I h ave time to try merging the same pics using the tool, will post results here

I've always thought HDR is solely used in 3D apps for lighting purposes?
Now becomes a new 'stylize' filter ar?..LOL. :bsmilie:

this method does give an impression of increased DR, but. .is there anyway to remove the glowing outlines?

Maybe you would like to post your workflow???

Gallery maybe more apprioriate to showcase your work in that case.
