i think theres some bad sector .. i cant access my D: drive which is a partition from the master harddisk
And this D: is where all my pics are ..

I am now access the net from the laptop, the PC is now doing a scan before entering windows. Alot of files are unreadable and is taking a long time to scan.

So how do i save it ? :dunno:

The partition no longer exists or?

If the partition is just lost, format it then recover with software.

the partition is still there ..
windows is scaning the D: drive now ... looks like many files are unreadable

Partition still there but when you click on the drive does it say unrecognisable partition?

Make sure your scandisk didn't set to auto-repair errors. You might over write your images FAT.

dono what u mean leh ..

i actually got 2 harddisk ... 4drives
C : D : E and F:
D: are the pictures.

Few days back I already notice that when I try to access D: drive , I had a hard time accessing to the files and folders in there.
It takes like few minutes to open the files and I also had a hard time copy some folders to E and F to back up some important pics

so now when i start XP .. it doing some scan. saying is detect a hard drive failure

Oooo... might be the drive dying, try see if you can copy out.

2 hard disks ... 4 drives?
Is it 2 hard disks with total 4 partitions?
How many partition are there in each hard disk?
C: & E: in first hard disk and D: & F: in another?

master = C and D drive
slave = E and G drive

now trying to copy out .. but dono when can go into windows

That's why it overheat lah.
Dun sandwich your seagate between anything can liao.

.

actually my vetilation is quite good inside my tower
CD rom and 1 harddisk is place on the top part of the tower (space out)
another harddisk is lower part of tower

I actually skip the scanning and manage to access to windows.
but when click to D: drive it says

"D: is not accessible, error perform inpage operation"

So what should I do next ?
reformat master harddisk and close the partition and use system recovery

my harddisk is still under warranty. wonder seagate can help me fix them ?

they might repair it for you btu they wont be responsible for the data loss and time lost
just burn a cd of a bootable linux and boot from cdrom and copy the files to one of your working drives.
really easy trust me.. i have dealt with enough of these

Symptoms look like a physical failure. You may want to get hold of a copy of SMART status-reading software (I suggest looking through the Seagate website) to find out the condition of the drive - at least there's an inkling of whether the fault's physical or logical (software).

Sometimes it's just overheated. I've heard people (and my ex-boss) fixing their hard drive problems by packing it in the freezer for an hour or two and then quickly booting it up, then copying the stuff off before it dies (Linux is a good choice, but learn all the necessary mounting commands and stuff before attempting!) I've never done this before, so try it at your own risk.
