interesting idea ;p but might introduce dust into the chamber and cause damage to the disks ;p

The moment you open the HDD, dust gets in, you can be prepared for bad sectors to appear real soon ;)

Hahhahaha.. is this a joke or what???

I worked in a HDD assembly line before. It is a Cleanroom(Class 1000).
Even if he was in a Cleanroom, the tools he used, especially that hammer, are not appropriate.

I think it is might for a BIG TIME JOKE!! :D :D :D
Hope no one follow it.

this must be a joke, quantum still around?

It will definately be free of noise; free of any usefull data also :bsmilie:

To save time and get the same effect; try drilling a 1/8th hole in the top cover (not in the bottom as the data will leak out). Pour in 47ml of machine oil and plug the wole with wax....... :bsmilie:

Quantum was bought over by Maxtor a few years back.

Better idea, use a ear-plug, cheap & neat!

Pablo, I like your idea ... and to prevent data leakage, just got to make sure the data chunks are larger than 1/8 in size, right ?

A better alternative to machine oil could be WD-40 ...

;)
