If pre order promotion price is 1428, the price will be higher after pre order? Is the difference still worth it as compared to 24-105?

I believe the street price of the FE24-105 is about $1700. To me 24mm is a crucial FL, especially for indoor group shots. It may be one-stop slower but easily compensated with Sony FF low noise sensors.

Also, US price is USD799/SGD1070, 30% cheaper than Sg prices. So spend that $300 on the FE 24-105 instead.

Agree with earlier post, the after-sales support is also important. Please check with Tamron Japan if they have authorized distributor now in SG.

For portraits, how's the bokeh and sharpness at 75mm F2.8 compared to say Distagon at 35mm F1.4?

you're kidding, right? comparing a Zeiss prime lens with a constant aperture zoom?
Read again. I might not be very clear. It's a noob question but if you don't have anything constructive to post, don't post.

i was asking a rhetorical question.

you've been a member since 2008, much longer than even I have. and if you have to ask anyone for their opinion of a mid to entry-level lens in comparison to a premium-grade prime, you're just asking to get shot and quartered.

and one more thing: 75mm vs 35mm. you're clearly on the right track asking these sort of question.
