i was wonder what do u guys think is the best "semi pro" camera available now?

canon s5is?
sony h9?
panasonic fz18?
nikon ????

what does each of them strong in?
and which one is the best in term of

-natural color and quality of the picture...
-function available..
-as for the zoom of course we know fz18 is the best...
-how abt ability to take fotos at low light condition with the least noise level...
-which has the best "image stabliser"?
- etc etc etc...

They are all about the same.

The Canon S5 IS have a hotshoe.
External flash can be add on to provide more flexibility.
It uses AA size battery. In an emergency, if your camera run out of juice, you
can go to any convenient shops and get a pack of alkaline battery and get some
more shots.

Sony H9 if you won't mind paying a bit more for memory stick duo is a good choice too.
It starts from 31mm, slightly less wide than the FZ18.

Panasonic FZ series are known for noise in low light, but the lens is good.
The wider angle starting from 28mm for the FZ18 will make indoor group photography easier.
Landscape photographer will also love it.

Can forget about the Nikon. They are not specialise in this class of camera.
The other 2 which you might want to consider is Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd and Olympus SP-560UZ

For details specification and review, you can go to http://www.dpreview.com

Most of the technical information I get is from there, since I didn't own any of them. :bsmilie:

tada, magic thread appears

it's only been there for maybe a few years (ok, i'm exaggerating).. but it was a sticky! right in the section where you asked your question!

magic thread

btw, every brand has its strengths and weaknesses. asking whether there is a one prosumer model to rule them all, is ridiculous.

if you want a prosumer with low noise, then you must look at sony r1 and/or fujifilm 6500fd. fuji also has 8000fd or something, new one, but don't know if noise control so good. ask dpreview and imaging resource.

thx alot for the comments and advices so far... it been helpful, i shall check try check out fuji and Olympus see what they have to offer...

and well one more thing.. if i like taken shots from afar and moving objects without tripod...

anyway more user who own all the camera mention aboved pls do fall in and share k? wana hear from the user themselves...

i'm a S5 user and d camera is great for a semi-pro. read through the S5 threads and visist the s1/s2/s5 photo thread and be convinced yourself. the color produce is great, zoom ultralsonic, hotshoe and everything added together quite and extrodinary cam for semi-pros.
