I was starting to withdraw some cash from the ATM here, and suddenly this guy with a BIG gun came and stood next to me with the gun pointed skywards...I got a shock for a while!

Turned out he was accompanying his colleague to bring cash into the bank..........but it did gave a shock lah! :)

Later I was thinking that I should have put my hands in the sky, that would have been funny and makes him laugh probably..........

What gun did he use? BB gun or real gun?

real gun ? but y did he drew out his gun and pointed skywards ?
Yes, those big guns (not those small M-16).........don't know what make lah! I am not a 'violent' person that wants to know about weapons :)

The thing is that the entrance of the bank was next to the ATM, so he was guarding the door when his colleague was carrying the money into the bank.

BTW: Most if not all jewellery shops here have a guard and some carry those big guns too!! Others smaller ones I think........

Hmmm, makes me wonder what camera shops have in their shops other than cameras/lenses.....

Its those long guns, not those small ones the police have along their waist.......don't know how you call them.....pointing skywards is a safety measure I believe, you never know what will happen if his fingers accidentally triggers the thing;)

I remember during my NS day, if someone calls what a rifle as gun, the Sergeant will scold this way: this is a rifle, you idiot! never see a gun before izit, want to hold a gun now? come , I let you hold my “gun”. :bsmilie:

Your Sgt is carrying 1 more pistol in a dangerous way... :bsmilie:

That how we learn to tell what the different between a rifle and a gun. :bsmilie:

Well, it sounds just as frightening for me when the authorities here first stepped up security at Changi Airport. I got out of the cab and just as I was about to enter through the glass doors, two soldiers and one policeman walked out together abreast with each other all with their fingers on the safety. Two with M-16s and one with an MPK. All not very jovial looking, all looking for Osama.

I don't know much about weapon, what I can think of is a GPMG.

Usually armed escorts for banks carry either:
- A revolver. Usually .38mm calibre. Good for point-blank blastin'. Crap for long shots.
- A shotgun. Lets go a spray of pellets at high velocity. Guaranteed to turn any potential robber into swiss cheese.

M16 are assault rifles usually carried by soldiers. They are restricted weapons so basically any security company can't just buy M16s just like that without the proper documents.

These days, internal security forces are carrying HK-MP5s. These are smaller calibre submachine guns. Fast and deadly.

And no, u dun have to be a violent person to know abt weapons. Just read more. :)
