This sub-forum is meant for the WTB and WTS threads for transactions of personal-owned photography-related equipments.

If you're trying to sound out the market or asking for prices of certain equipment, please post them @ Consumers Corner.

We'd appreciate that as a form of courtesy, all will refrain from 'crashing' another person's thread by offering a similar item(s) for sale. I'm sure you'd not want anyone else to do that to your thread.

It's not an issue whether you can offer a 'better value for money'. Just start another thread. Having said that, we reserve the right to split the 'offending' post.

Also, all WTB and WTS of non-photography-related equipment will be deleted without notice, and mass orders, similar services, i.e. not one to one sales and such, will be moved to Consumers Corner.

Thank you for your attention and may I wish all to find good bargains and serious buyers here! ;)

Update!

Let's make this sub-forum more user-friendly (if possible) by

a) locking your threads when you're done

b) update the titles to reflect the status

c) show etiquette by leaving out Off-Topic posts!

Please note that transactions taking place in the Buy & Sell, Consumers Corner & Photo Services sub-sections are in no way related to ClubSNAP and it is entirely up to the buyers and sellers to negotiate and transact.

ClubSNAP will not be held liable for any case of fraud, over-pricing, fake, faulty, damaged goods etc. that arise out of transactions undertaken by individual members in this forum.

Caveat Emptor - Let the Buyer Beware.

As suggested by CS member rochkoh, please use the following Condition Ratings when advertising your WTB/WTS items.

Condition: New
Description: Never used. Original packing with markers still intact.
Also known as: New

Condition: Mint
Description: Like new. Not used since it left the shop. No signs of use.
Also known as: Mint

Condition: 10
Description: Very carefully used. Only very light user marks. Without close inspection, item would pass for mint.
Also known as: Mint(-), Near-Mint, A

Condition: 9
Description: A few light user marks. Used very little and carefully. May show some very mild wear, such as rub marks by lug straps, or bright marks on metal base plate.
Also known as: Excellent(++), A/B

Condition: 8
Description: Light to moderate user marks. Typical amateur use. May have some very slight brassing, or light scratches in metal. Obviously well-maintained and cared for.
Also known as: Excellent(+), B

Condition: 7
Description: Well used but not abused. May have minor dings or scratches. May have obvious brassing and scratches in common wear areas.
Also known as: Excellent, B/C

Condition: 6
Description: Very well used. May have moderate dings / scratches. Looks like it may have travelled half the region and could tell a story or two. Dented, scratched, brassed. yet refuses to stop operating.
Also known as: Excellent(-), Very Good, C

Condition: 5
Description: Very heavy use. May have heavy dings / scratches. Looks like it may have travelled the globe with it and could write a book or two. Heavily dented, heavily scratched, heavily brassed. Yet simply refuses to stop operating, and you've got no idea why.
Also known as: Good, D

Condition: 4 to 3
Description: Very poor condition. Suitable for re-build or spares.
Also known as: Bad, E

Condition: 2-1
Description: Very bad condition. For very extensive re-build or spares.
Also known as: Ugly, Very Bad, F

Please note that condition ratings are very subjective and no two people will totally agree on the condition rating of a used piece of equipment. However, please use the guidelines above to best describe what you think your equipment condition is. For this reason i would rarely describe used equipment as 'MINT'.

Hi all,

Of late, there has been an increase in the number of threads in Buy & Sell where the sellers/buyers are testing market only and not really sure of whether they want to transact.

To reiterate what is already written in the first post in this thread - "If you're trying to sound out the market or asking for prices of certain equipment, please post them @ Consumers Corner.".

MWTB (May Want To Buy) and MWTS (May Want To Sell) threads will therefore be moved to Consumers Corner.

Please do not:-

1. Crash into another seller's thread offering similiar item at lower price.

2. Crash into seller's thread saying "But can get Item X at price S$Y here" or "Last time, Person A sold me/Person B the same item at Price S$Z" - if you want to provide price update to the seller, please use Private Messaging.

While members may have good intentions in posting publically on the above items, please remember that the transaction is strictly between the buyer and seller, and it is the onus of the buyer and seller to do their own homework, and to negotiate.

Just a note that the Edit/Delete thread/posts functions are disabled in the Buy & Sell forum.

This is to prevent misuse or abuse in the event that a buyer or seller edits the posts to "cover up" or otherwise post irrelevant things.

It will also serve as a records of sorts on particular buyer/seller behaviour in ClubSNAP.

If a member needs to change something, post a reply which supercedes the original information.

Some clarification for members who are posting their items here in Buy & Sell and are facing difficulty in placing them either in Kopitiam or here (or have had their posts moved)

Photography-related items are those items that are primarily designed to be used in the course of creating your images (whether digital or film), thus, by using the above definition the following items will qualify as photography-related:-

Film/Digital Cameras (SLRs, Point & Shoots, Digicams, Video Cameras), Flashes, Studio paraphernalia, tripods, ballheads, lenses, filters, films, camera bags, batteries, chargers, CF Cards/Readers, Photo Printers (note word Photo), Digitising tablets, Scanners (slide/film and specialised flatbeds), Darkroom equipment.

Items NOT Allowed in Buy & Sell and will be moved:-
PCs, Monitors, disk drives, CD/DVD-writers.

The two lists are by no means exhaustive and will be updated from time to time.

Thread starter/creators in Buy & Sell forum now have the option to close their thread once the transaction is concluded or if they wish to withdraw their item(s) from sales.

To Open/Close the thread, please select the option from the Admin Options drop-down at the bottom-right-hand-corner (scroll all the way down) of the page.

Edits and deletes are not allowed to maintain audit trail and transparency in all Buy & Sell transactions.

With the introduction of new guidelines on non-photography-related items, here is an updated definition and a list (though not exhaustive) of items which can be advertised in Buy & Sell.

Photography-related items are those items that are primarily designed to be used in the course of creating your images (whether digital or film), thus, by using the above definition the following items will qualify as photography-related:-
  • Film/Digital Cameras (SLRs, Point & Shoots, Digicams, Video Cameras)
  • Flashes
  • Studio paraphernalia
  • Tripods, tripod heads, ballheads
  • Camera Lenses
  • Lens attachments and filters
  • Films
  • Camera bags
  • Batteries and battery chargers
  • CF Cards/Readers
  • Photo Printers (note word Photo)
  • Digitising tablets
  • Scanners (slide/film and specialised flatbeds)
  • Darkroom equipment

Note: Threads which do not conform to guidelines will be removed without notice.

Recently, we have noticed an increase in non-photographic items being advertised in Buy & Sell and Consumers Corner.

We remind members that ClubSNAP is here to serve the photographic community, and as such, we have made the conscious decision to restrict items for sale or for Mass Order to Photography items only.

The definition of what is deemed to be Photography-related is found in the sticky inside the Buy & Sell forum. However, this list is not exhaustive and is subject to review by the administrative team as and when necessary to amend, add or remove categories as situations changes.

We have also noticed that members are registering alter-nicks to try and sell non-photographic items - needless to say, this is highly discouraged, and yes, we know who you are.

Please assist us in making sure that the Buy & Sell and Consumers Corner forums stay true to their intended usage by
a) Not posting non-photography equipment ads
b) Report the post to the Moderators as well as advising newbies of the guidelines.

We seek the cooperation of all members to keep ClubSNAP the Premier Photography Community. Thank you.

Merged a couple of related sticky threads to tidy up Buy & Sell forum.

We encourage all members to read and understand the guidelines below to ensure fast, hassle-free and successful sales/trades.

Guidelines :-
1. Use accurate titles to reflect your sale/thread - a title such as "For Sale" without reference to what is being sold may not gather as much response as "WTS: Collectors Edition Gold Plated Nikon FA Kit - S$1000".

2. Close the thread after sale/trade is concluded - this will update the status of the item. Member should also close the thread if they changed their mind about selling/buying.

3. Show etiquette and exemplary behaviour by NOT posting OT/Banal posts - the following are NOT encouraged and may result in action from Moderators (list is not exhaustive and will be revised from time to time):
* price-crashing
* hijacking of another person's thread to sell your own item
* too many "Upz" posts in a short span of time

And lastly -
4. Do not post non-photographic items - any such posts will be removed without prior notice or warning to poster.

The following is a list of what can be advertised in Buy & Sell (list is not exhaustive and will be updated from time to time).

Photography-related items are those items that are primarily designed to be used in the course of creating your images (whether digital or film), thus, by using the above definition the following items will qualify as photography-related:-
  • Film/Digital Cameras (SLRs, Point & Shoots, Digicams, Video Cameras)
  • Flashes
  • Studio paraphernalia
  • Tripods, tripod heads, ballheads
  • Camera Lenses
  • Lens attachments and filters
  • Films
  • Camera bags
  • Batteries and battery chargers
  • CF Cards/Readers
  • Photo Printers (note word Photo)
  • Digitising tablets
  • Scanners (slide/film and specialised flatbeds)
  • Darkroom equipment

Note: Due to the volume of posts in Buy & Sell, our Moderators may not be able to monitor all the threads, thus if the thread starter feels that members are violating the guidelines, please send a PM to the Marketplace Moderators or the Admins for our action.

Please note that Personal Computers (PCs and Macs) and LCD monitors are not considered to be photographic items as they are not designed primarily for photography.

We seek members understanding that posts advertising PCs/Macs and/or LCD monitors will be removed without notice and no amount of PMs or emails to Admins/Mods will change the fact that they are non-photographic in nature and thus not allowed as WTS/WTB threads in Consumers Corner and Buy & Sell forums.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Please do not:-

We reserve the right to take action against members who repeatedly violate this guideline.

This is an update to the Guidelines for the Buy & Sell sections.

Definition of Commercial vs Personal Sellers :-
Commercial sellers: Members who have been identified as regular/frequent sellers and/or selling in larger quantities, and may have registered businesses with long-term commitment in the goods/services that they offer. Sellers may have a retail front or registered place of business, and items sold are new and unopened.

Personal sellers: individuals who are offering goods or services to other members. Typically, personal sellers will only have one or at most two of the same items to sell, and those goods have been opened and used.

The Buy & Sell sections are primarily for Personal Sales, and we will remove without notice all threads posted by members who we have identified as falling into the Commercial Sellers category.

Commercial Sellers will need to purchase a subscription package that will allow them to advertise their goods/services in the Mass Order / Mass Sales section which is specifically catered for Commercial Sales. Please contact us for more information on the subscription packages available.
