Worldwide, there are only 2 of such species and only one is found in South East Asia. In Singapore, they are classified as nationally threatened species and are uncommon resident.
These birds are relatively secretive and mainly crepuscular. It is very easy to miss them as they can hide behind bushes and remain motionless for long period.
We (Harlequin and myself) are lucky to have met a male greater painted-snipe this morning. Posting here to share it with you.
He hides behind some bushes. (Don't be shy shy now, come out.)
The snipe came out from the hidding place after feeling that the coast is clear.
Wah, so happy to find clean water!
