Grand Prix: The F1 Legend through Photography is an exhibition of 64 black & white and colour photographs by father and son team, Bernard and Paul-Henri Cahier, both highly acclaimed photographers in the world of motor sports racing. The exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the history of the sport and the intimate world of Formula One racing with its mix of high technology, sportsmanship, teamwork and celebrity-dom. The exhibition begins with photographs from the early 1950s by Bernard Cahier of some of the first F1 races in Europe as well as F1 legends of the day such as Juan Manuel Fangio and Giuseppe Farina. Paul-Henri has continued his father’s legacy with his prolific photography of F1 races from the 1980s to the present capturing the famous pilots of the modern F1 era, from Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher to the favourite of the moment, Lewis Hamilton. His more powerfully graphic and sometimes abstract photographs present an artistic portrayal of the F1 races. The exhibition is on from 20 September to 31 October 2008 at the Cathay Gallery. Grand Prix: The Racing Legend through Photography is part of the Singapore GP Season.
