I like the light weight and convinience, but my trip do need a stable
platform occassionally. Are there any simple/easy mechanisms which
can convert a monopod into tripod?

Since most tripod has 3 legs, remove them and use some mechanisms to fix into
a tripod. Are there such mechanisms? Or else I will DIY. If it's nice then I
will manufacture a few in China and sell in B&S.

If you have go thru Manfrotto tripods products, you will have the answers.

Hope this helps.

Are there any clamps which can clamp a monopod into trees branches?

Very interesting tripod. Where can I test one in Singapore? :bsmilie:
Good question.. I used to have a very old similar model a long time ago but sold it off. Maybe Cathay or Ruby might have?

Just get a carbon fibre tripod then when you want a monopod - don't spread the legs (with all three extended you can switch to tripod mode easily) alternatively only extend one leg to give you monopod mode.

yeah, dats the way I do with my tripod. now what I need is a monopod which can
be converted to a tripod. Monopod is easier to carry and extend.

Ya lor... haiz... sekali same like Manfrotto... or Manfrotto like them...
got info or not? ;p

I got a Gitzo 1222 tripod that can screw off 1 leg and use as monopod. V good.

It's an old model now, not carbon fiber. DUnno if can still find.

can also try sitting on the monopod and mounting the camera on your head ;p two of ur legs plus monpod = tripod.... kidding...

there're some monopods with "stands" or base that would aid stability. u can get these. alternatively, carry along some rafia strings and tie the monopods to fences, railings, tables, chairs, or even luggage when extra stability is needed.
