Anyone tried this combination before of using a GoPro Hero 3+ for driving recorder?

1) Automatic power up and record function if connected to car charger?
2) Automatic file overwrite?

You know, rather than buying a cheap car camera that doesn't last long, possible get a GoPro that can function as driving recorder and some adventure recording....??

Any advise from user's experience?

Out of the box, it doesn't support auto on/start/stop at all, and the loop recording is supposedly quite buggy.

Some people make external controllers to add those functions, see: http://www.cam-do.com/GoProDashCam.html

Thanks for detail info.. pardon for I'm quite layman here... some questions

1) Cam-do is a timelapse motherboard that requires separate purchase and setup?
2) Not compatible with Silver 3+, that is the model I'm looking at
3) Looping error, suppose we have to either buy a 64GB and at some intervals delete old files to prevent error
4) Auto on/off... alternative is to power up when we switch on cars?
5) If plug in gopro to car charger, it seems that it will power up and record in the ONE BUTTON mode?
