Hi to all

I just returned from London. I normally stay away from duty free shops as they don't seem to give a good price. But Dixons Travel at Heathrow Terminal 3 had quite a few cameras on display. I checked the prices of some of their products and was quite amazed. With the current exchange rate of 1 GBP = 2.1 S$, it's quite attractive. Here's a sample of how they compare:

S$ GBP
Sony Nex 3 (18-55)lens 999 416
Sony Nex 5 (18-55) lens 1199 499
Olympus E-PL1 (14-42 lens) 998 399
iPod shuffle 2 GB 75 33
Fuji F300EXR 429 255

Sorry, I did not do a thorough check, but a quick phone call to the UK should suffice, with the low phone rates, look up the Internet for the info. The salesman said this is possible as there is no tax on the items which can only be bought by travellers going out of the UK.

As usual YMMV as seen in the price of the Fuji, but it certainly is worth thinking about.

Cheers,

The prices are pretty close to those we get from the local friendly shops. And we get warranty too. ;)
