Good choice for macro for ~$500?

Greetings,

I've been reading more reviews than I can count... I'm looking for a good, cheap, camera that will do some decent close up photography. And the catch is... I'm a complete n00b when it comes to digital photography!

I'm doing a Web site for a tackle shop, and another for a jeweler. Both sites need good close-ups of their products.

I'm not ready to jump to a Nikon D70 yet, which is the camera I'd prefer... I'm looking to spend $500 - $600 at the most.

I've read good things about the Minolta DiMAGE 7i, but I thought I'd get a feeling for a couple of other options before I committed.

Any other opinions and or demonstrations are VERY welcome!

For $500-600, can get a 2nd hand oly c4040.

WOW! Thanks for that link on shooting jewelry! I was definitely having some lighting issues... the flash was giving me way too much glare.

Any idea how to get some good (ghetto?) lighting set up, dirt cheap?

Nikons are usually good for their macro. Or you can get a secondhand 602z which has a supermacro mode of 1cm and hotshoe.
