As before, I would like to gather some ideas if anyone is interested with the 2 courses that I would like to run. I was a little too ambitious to pack everything in one night for the past course.
I will keep this in layman term... rather than impressive business jargon that really make one wonder...
Course 1:
Going Pro
This course is design to help those people who is starting photography as income generation activity to start right and understand what is the professional photography is all about.
Just some draft topics
- Equipment discussion
- Legality of the business
- Business 101
This course is perhaps the overview of what is needed to get started and starting it right. It will touch on the surface for the business.
Course 2:
Business in Photography
This Course is design to help those people who have started freelancing and looking in going full time Pro. This course will run pretty much on the business side which talk about how to get consistent work as well as expanding the business.
Some topics that I will cover
1. How to stand out from the pack
2. Marketing strategies
3. Reaching for higher end clients
4. Enjoy your work and get paid doing it.
Just a little background about Me:
Arrive in Singapore in Dec 2007... started Tomato Photo in March 2008 and specialises in Children Photography.
Singapore is a new country for me and without contact and without knowing anyone else in the industry when I started and was told by many that specialisation especially in Children photography in Singapore is not going to work.
Basically, with little money for Marketing and little money for equipment, I manage to grow the business to $100k in first year and $210k for the second year and 3rd year is still on going...
The aim of this course is to demystifying the "Professional Photography" and to help passionate and talented photographer in their business to achieve enjoyable for their work and most importantly getting paid for it.
If you have any questions about the course, please reply to this thread so I can answer them.
One question that many may ask is "Will it work with Wedding photography?" what I can say is, this is the core business fundamental which should work with consumer base photography (ie, selling your service direct to end user).
I don't know much about commercial photography as in dealing with agent, publicist,etc... but consumer type photography will work.
My wife think it is too cheap for sharing these information... but nonetheless, it is the photography community that I am trying to help.
I will move this to the "Course" section of the CS once there are enough interest.
In the mean time, if there are any questions, please let post on the thread or PM me.
