Take note of rule No. 4 and 17.

4. Winning entries shall become the sole property of the Organiser, and may be used by the Organiser for any marketing or promotional purpose directly related to the contest. This use may include but not limited to publication in printed materials, electronic media, websites and photo exhibitions.

17. Each entry shall be the sole, original, unpublished work of the participant. By entering the competition, each participant warrants that he/she is the original photographer and sole owner of the copyright in all of his/her photo entries and undertakes that he/she shall defend and indemnify and hold harmless the Organiser from and against any and all liability, claim, loss, damage, costs and expenses in relation to any claim or action brought against the Organisers arising out of or in relation to a breach of this warranty.

At least ONLY the winning entries will be the sole property of the contest organisers. This contest is supported by PSS.

Cheers,

What does one mean 'SOLE PROPERTY'?

Means the photographer has to surrender all rights to the Organizer?

Or does that mean otherwise??

I guess so...

Competition such as this or most competition in fact always have rules that are contradictory.

The title/theme says Digital Photo Competition but

Rule 9 says

"Do not submit original prints or negatives. The Organiser is not responsible for damage or loss of entry, during or after the competition. Proof of delivery will not be accepted as proof of submission."

Then in red the organiser specified Note: No prints, slides or negatives will be accepted." ... meaning what?

Does this mean only pictures produced from a digital camera are accepted ??? If so, why Rule No 9 ???

or

does this mean any picture, digital or film, is accepted except no prints/slides/negatives as the Organiser is not responsible for damage or loss of entry, during or after the competition ??? If so, why titled "Digital Photo Competition" ???

or

are the rules conveniently pasted without giving any/much thought to what they cut ???

Let me hazard a guess...they will not accept/consider submissions of prints or negs for the competition. But they also cannot stop people from sending print/neg submissions through post. Hence they will not be responsible for loss or damage to such entries, should they receive any.
