Hi all,

Hope to get some opinions here. I have a few cameras in my mind.
Have read some reviews about them. Each has it plus and minus points.
I would really like to own a DSLR in the future, but the price is too steep &
too inconvenient to carry it around for now. Compact camera is not
in my consideration list, coz they lack some manual features, that I really
like. E.g feature like at least 10X optical zoom, and to play with
shutter speed and aperture. So I decided, I might get something in between.
Some flexibility of a DSLR, yet small enough to be carried around to shoot anytime.
The main use of my camera will be for events, fireworks, portrait, scenery &
family photos. Occasionally, some macro shots.

My Consideration list

1) Canon Powershot S1 IS

2) Nikon Coolpix 4800

3) Olympus C-770

4) Panasonic Lumix FZ3

5) Minolta Dimage Z3 or Z5

Feel free to give me some opinions, since many guys of you here
have many experiences with cameras and your words will definitely
benefit me in making a choice of my next camera.

Thanks.

sony v3
olympus c8080

2) Nikon Coolpix 4800

3) Olympus C-770

4) Panasonic Lumix FZ3
To me above not so good....

Minolta Z3/5 good/value $$, good pic, Canon good too

You have to consider the following:

1. Price point
2. Weight for handheld
3. Use with external flash
4. Size to put in bag

I would think either of the 5 are good enough. The FZ3 is to be discontinued soon, so it will be a FZ4/FZ5 you will be buying. If you like post processing, the FZ3 is quite good overall. If you want something smaller and good out of the bag, the S1 IS is there for you.

Thanks for all those who have given me some advices and tips to help me make a choice. ;)

If there are still more comments from others, feel free to post so that it will benefits others who like me are inexperience when shopping for a new camera.
 ZooMMM...wow.. new lens are so sharp..

So in the end which camera you bought?

Since you are obewan, then you have to stick with the jedi.
Unless you want to come over to the dark side.

But seriously you should look for enduser reviews.
And feel the camera yourself at the shops.

Which brands are the light/dark side?
