Hi,

Can any master advice on which Sigma len is suitable for Sony A100 for travelling (taking scenery, some flower closeup)?

Thanks

tell me, blurblur,

why not SONY lens ?

Depend on what you like to shoot, how wide, macro and tele, portrait etc during travel. The most general all in 1 lens are Sigma/sony/Tamron 18-200mm or Tamron 18-250mm, or kit lens and Sigma 17-70mm.

I personally use combination of Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 and Minolta 28-135mm f/4-4.5 during travel.

Btw, you can get an extension tube to add macro capability to the lens.

your focal requirement needs seem quite vast.

for wide natural sceneries,
at CF 1.5, you can go for the
10-16mm : ultra wide angle (109-83 degrees)
16-35mm : wide angle (83-44 degrees)

for flowers,
at CF 1.5, you can go for the
50-80mm : standard tele (32-20 degrees)
80-120mm : short telephoto (20-....)
+ macro

for everything else, 18-200mm is the most versatile, or those in the range up to 70 or 80mm as a lower requirement.

however, you can't find gd zoom range + ultra wide + macro. all 3 can only be found in separate lens, hence increased cost and increased weight.
