i like your composition on the first pic but alamak, why you zoom in on the rest. :bsmilie:
would like to know your setting used.
maybe you could set a smaller aperture and higher shutter speed to make the durian more bright and firework trail more thin.
also lock focus to infinity.

1st pic view is  guess i'll haf to book a room in swissotel nxt week :D

u mean I should'nt zoom in ? urghhh....i itchy hand lah...thought of getting
big big fireworks.....nevermind, will try again next time....thanks for the
comment...

my setting for pic 1 is F11, 4 sec, ISO 200 :)

Well, at least you no need to squeeze with the crowds at the esplanade. :bsmilie:

Like the angle of your first picture, the rest of them are right. You should zoom in. :)

Fireworks are concentrated at one area so try portrait mode to include esplanade and and try not to zoom in as you might get fireworks out of the whole frame especially those big burst....

Cheers!

Wah. This is some expensive night of shooting. :D

Any other angles that you tried?

I didnt book the room, i happened to have an overseas visitor
staying on the 56th storey facing Esplanade and CBD area, so i "kei kei"
go visit her with an ultimate motive to shoot the fireworks from
her room...hehehe....

The strong wind was blowing towards our direction and of course, the thick
smoke followed ! Spoilt most of my shots....will try again this sunday...

u wan big big shots den take NEF or TIFF or RAW files lor.. den u can big big lor... hahahaha....

den u crop lo....

but i like the 1st one... kinda small la.. cuz toooooOOOoo much space.. but not bad,... kinda ex to shoot at Swissotel rite ? erm.. 58lvl is rooms or wad ? cafe ?

I agree with everyone, #1 has the strongest composition. If you have the chance again today. Try to frame all of the esplanade in the shot as you have alot of dead space about the top of the fireworks.

If you want to zoom in, and you should, use a vertical composition to get the esplanade and the fireworks, best of both worlds. If not with the fireworks off to the side, there is an unbalanced feel to the composition.

Yeah...quite ex to book a room just for a 5 mins fireworks....if my visitors did
not stay at Swissotel, i will never book a room there....u can find me squeeze
my way thru the crowd :p

It is all rooms on 56th storey, no cafe or restaurants....

1st pix : fireworks are too small
2nd pix: shutter too slow...causing the fireworks to appear to be white
3rd pix: frame the fireworks to be at the top most
