For the first time in history, all public transport are free of charge for today in celebration of National Day.

Have you taken the free rides?

I saw so many simling faces of the commuters. Huat!!!

good initiative, I can see many people who hardly go out normally, but today many of them get to go out with friends and family on the public transports.

please show a little more patience and be more accommodating, we are cerebration our National Day and we all Singaporean are the hosts. :)

Heh actually more because we have a little baby - so chose to spend more quality time at home with her than going out. The giving-crowds-a-miss was a lil bonus :)

people deliberately take MRT coz it's free. this is stupid ! if your intention is to get from 1 point to another ,then it's fine. but i know many take the train for no reason...................

Based on annual reports daily revenue 0f $5m from bus/rail operations:

SMRT (2015) 2.44m
SBTransit (2014) 2.6m

The companies running the services have to be compensated for loss of revenue and the need to pay the staff working on that day ...
