Wah rumours are flying thick and fast. This morning, ABC News (Aussie) reported that the rivial series's circuit plan had been leaked. I din know it was at such an advance stage liao and they also say the plans are close to no return.

i think they had no choice, not with mad mosley refusing to budge. i hear adelaide has been earmarked.

if the breakaway series really happens... i hope to see more teams. the current 8 teams... no fun leh. even if they field 3 cars each... still no fun. would love to see new teams compete with the lao-chiaus...:bsmilie:

Kinda surprised it was resolved so quickly and suddenly given that it was dragged for sometime already.

maybe Bernie worked his magic... he has a stake in F1. if it dies... he dies too.

no real secret they all want mad max to go...:bsmilie:

anyway its difficult for the teams to organize a championship by 2010, time too short liao... and also to renegotiate with all the sponsors and track access again... no way...

make sense to have a compromise on things... cut cost yes but with discretion and common sense... 40million its hard, ferrari has to chop a lot of ppl's head...:bsmilie:

I was amazed that Max Mosley said that his departure was planned and it was not announced as it would mean that the FOTA teams would not take him seriously. Oh man what a clown.... for him to actually think that we believe this.
Ya it is good that he is going... forced out! Good job that FOTA can at least get him out....I hope. 69 is a "magical" number for Mosley.

I saw on ABC news a few days back that FOTA had the circuits planned for next season. I was also stunned that it happened at such a pace but it was already in the works.

Anyway its useless liao. The teams will be back plus the 3 newbies. Think Lola and Prodrive should make a push for it. Both teams got experience in F1. Also read that Cosworth will be back as engine supplier next year.

Reduce to 40m in a season is really too much. Madmax says to save F1 have to reduce cost and in such an economic climate, its time to do so but to do so, Ferrari and Co have to sack many staff. That will not help at all.

Yeah maybe its him. Bernie said his marriage failed because of F1 and he is not going to let F1 die just like that. :bsmilie:

Formula One crisis set to re-fire.
Peace arrived last Wednesday, but the declaration was too soon: Formula One is almost back at war.

On one side, Max Mosley is stridently threatening to tear up the accord with the eight rebel FOTA members if its leader Luca di Montezemolo does not retract comments made in the wake of their Paris handshake.

The FIA President considers that FOTA steered the media into believing the F1 teams' alliance had won the war while Mosley retreated.

But in light of Mosley's latest interview, the new divide might be too wide.

"Within the motor sport world nobody takes him seriously," Mosley said of di Montezemolo, the Formula One Teams Association chairman, Ferrari President and Fiat chairman.

"He's seen as what the Italians call a 'bella figura' (style over substance). He's chairman of Fiat but the serious individual who runs it is Sergio Marchionne, and I don't suppose he takes much notice of Luca," he told the Daily Mail.

Mosley said F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone must also be enraged.

"He started life selling cars and one of his sayings is, 'Once you've sold the car, stop talking'. What Luca did was worse; not only did he not stop talking, but he talked stupidly," Mosley added.

Publicly, FOTA is saying very little, but the tension and high stakes remain.

A source for the teams association - which has Ferrari, Renault, BMW, Toyota, McLaren, Brawn, Red Bull and Toro Rosso as its members - said FOTA expects Mosley to stick to the peace accord.

"If he doesn't, then we'll see what our options are, but at this stage we are treating what he has said as polemics," the source told The Times.

Meanwhile, a report in The Guardian said the rebel teams are preparing to protest the involvement of Alan Donnelly, Mosley's right-hand man at Grand Prix, in the new Manor team.

Manor involves Mosley's former Simtek colleague Nick Wirth, and the British newspaper said F1 chief steward Donnelly's company is engaged in public relations for the team.

Donnelly is also accused of escorting a Manor executive around a recent European F1 paddock, but a source close to him denies he has any "direct involvement" with the team.

Thnings are evidently far from settled in the FIA-FOTA confrontation.

Jialat.. when will peace ever strike out. Remember when Max Mosley called the FOTA members loonies? No one mentioned much right?
